BMC Database Management Solutions Support DB2® 12 – A Leap Forward in Innovation and Support for the Digital Enterprise
BMC delivers 23 software releases for DB2 within just six weeks of IBM’s release of DB2 12
HOUSTON – December 20, 2016 – BMC, a global leader in IT solutions for the digital enterprise, this week announced the general availability of BMC’s database management solutions for IBM’s DB2® 12 for z/OS® database, improving availability and productivity, while reducing risk and data management costs by up to 65 percent.
DB2 z/OS is the database of choice for enterprises requiring the scalability, reliability, and availability that only it can provide. DB2 12 offers the capability of 11.7 million inserts per second, allowing up to 256 trillion rows in a table, and even faster analytical insights, enabling greater support of the digital enterprise. These new capabilities create challenges for database administrators who manage a company’s data, and BMC’s database management solutions for DB2 12 provides IT with the tools they need to overcome these challenges and capitalize on the digital enterprise capabilities.
“Digital business is creating an explosion of data on the mainframe, creating challenges for DB2 environments. Given this growth, it’s clear that companies need new data management approaches for today’s always-on digital world,” said Jonathan Adams, Vice President and General Manager, ZSolutions Optimization at BMC. “BMC invested approximately 200,000 development and QA hours to deliver the 23 BMC software releases for DB2 within just six weeks of IBM’s release of DB2 12. By offering customers the latest DB2 12 enhancements across our product suite, BMC is demonstrating our commitment to modernizing work on the mainframe today and in the future and further solidifying our zSystems market leadership.”
In addition, BMC has further integrated its industry-leading Next Generation Technology utilities across BMC’s mainframe DB2 solutions, making it possible to manage growing data volumes with adaptive autonomics while providing full, continuous availability to business applications with zero downtime. It also includes updates to the BMC Workbench for DB2® product that provides tablet-enabled features, including recovery reporting and SQL workload comparisons, so customers can migrate to DB2 12 with confidence.
