BMC Helix Discovery Migration Service

This Service migrates customer’s from BMC On Premise Discovery to BMC Helix Discovery.

What you get:

BMC will perform the following in two environments (3 days allotted for 2nd environment)

Analyze and Design

  • Conduct a workshop to analyze the existing BMC Discovery implementation and provide overview of the migration process
  • Prepare Migration Design Document with tasks required to support the migration to BMC Helix Discovery
  • Review findings and overview of the migration plan with Customer stakeholders

Prepare for Migration

  • Install and configure up to three BMC Discovery Outposts (“Outposts”)
  • Migrate groups, users, and permissions from BMC Discovery to BMC Helix Single Sign-On and BMC Helix Discovery

Migrate

  • Migrate up to 10 application models and convert to Blueprints* where possible 
  • Migrate credentials using migration tools
  • Re-configure up to 25 scheduled discovery runs
  • Configure integration to one of either BMC Helix CMDB or ServiceNow® CMDB (if integration already exists for BMC Discovery)

Validate and Deliver

  • Prepare Construction Document
  • Prepare Test Strategy and System Test Plan
  • Assist Customer with functional testing
  • Provide up to three days of assistance with deployment to configuring Customer’s second environment

Customer will be responsible for:

  • Provisioning Outposts infrastructure as required
  • Providing access to:
    • BMC Discovery administrators
    • Subject matter experts
    • Available documentation on the current BMC Discovery environment
  • Providing access and privileges to:
    • Existing BMC Discovery appliance
    • Servers, applications, and systems to be discovered (if required)
    • Systems to be integrated
    • BMC Helix environment
  • Conducting functional testing, including creating functional test plan
  • Deploying configurations to additional BMC Helix Discovery environments

Project Milestones: The following Milestones are established between the Customer and BMC. Once BMC has reached a milestone, the BMC project manager will issue a milestone completion letter to Customer.

  • Milestone 1: Upon delivery of the Project Schedule
  • Milestone 2: Upon delivery and approval of the Migration Design Document
  • Milestone 3: Upon delivery and approval of the Construction Document
  • Milestone 4: Upon completion of the Project Closeout meeting and the delivery of the project completion letter

Deliverables: Using BMC’s standard methodology and templates, the following Deliverables are in scope for this project and will be delivered:

  • Project Schedule
  • Project Status Report
  • Migration Design Document
  • Construction Document
  • Test Strategy and System Test Plan

Completion Criteria: BMC will have completed these Consulting Services when the in-scope Consulting Services have been completed and the Deliverables have been delivered to the Customer Project Manager.

Pre-requisites:

  • For non-SaaS migrations, the BMC Helix platform must already be implemented
  • Firewall ports must be open between BMC Helix Discovery environment and Outposts and between Outposts and Customer’s network

Definitions:

  • Country-Specific Staffing: Upon Customer’s request and BMC resource availability, BMC will deviate from BMC’s Standard Delivery model. BMC will work with Customer to understand and address their country-specific staffing requirements. The staffing choice from which country a BMC resource comes from will be mutually agreed to by BMC and Customer.
  • Standard Delivery: A mix of BMC consultants and project managers sourced from various BMC locations.
  • Blueprints are templates, a single blueprint can describe one or multiple business services based on the same technical structure. (For example, a service “MS Exchange”, deployed in different environments such as DEV/QA/PRE-PROD/PROD, can be described with one blueprint template.)
