At BMC, we believe the most meaningful change often starts with a story. Our Women in Tech series celebrates the voices of women who’ve followed their passion, faced challenges head-on, and continue to lead with empathy, strength, and vision.
Through every conversation, we’re reminded of the power of honesty, courage, and the importance of lifting each other up. In our first edition, we bring you a story that is as bold as it is inspiring. Meytal Dimant has spent nearly two decades building her career in tech—and the path she walked wasn’t always fair or easy. But through grit, clarity, and an unshakable sense of self-worth, she carved out her place and rose to lead with strength and empathy.
We sat down with Meytal to talk about what inspired her journey into technology, the pivotal moments that shaped her path, and the leadership practices that keep her grounded.
1. What first sparked your interest in tech, and how did you take your initial steps into the field?
For as long as I can remember, I’ve been drawn to computers and the world of technology. In high school, I studied computer science and absolutely loved it - it felt natural and exciting to me. That passion only grew stronger over time, so I went on to pursue a degree in Computer Science and Mathematics. I enjoyed every minute of it - it was clear to me that this was the field where I belonged.
2. Can you share a challenge you’ve faced as a woman in tech—and how you navigated it?
Being a woman in tech is not always easy. Over my 19 years of experience, I’ve faced several challenges - I’ll share two that have stayed with me.
When I started my career as a fresh graduate with a Bachelor's degree, I joined a company alongside four other new hires: three men and two women. On our very first day, I found out that the women’s base salary was 1,000 shekels lower than the men’s - despite having the same qualifications. Later in my career, after gaining more experience, I was up for a promotion. My manager had told me the opportunity was mine - and during that same conversation, I also shared that I was pregnant. I made it clear that I still wanted the role, and we agreed that it wouldn’t change the plan. But in the end, I didn’t get the promotion - someone had decided it would be too difficult for me to handle while pregnant. When I returned from maternity leave, I addressed the situation directly with my manager. It took time, but eventually, I was promoted to a leadership role under a different manager. These experiences taught me to speak up, to advocate for myself, and - most importantly - to never give up. There is no peak or goal I can’t reach.
3. What’s one go-to productivity trick or routine that helps you stay grounded during busy weeks?
As a manager of a large group, I make it a priority to maintain regular 1:1s with my direct reports - but just as importantly, I block off one hour during office days with no meetings. I use that time to connect informally with both the broader team (including indirect reports) and my peers. These casual conversations often give me a clearer sense of what’s really happening across the team. They help build trust and strengthen relationships. It’s a simple routine that helps me stay connected and keeps the team engaged.
4. What’s one piece of advice you’d give to women starting out in the tech world today?
Believe in yourself - even when others don’t. There will be times when your voice isn’t the loudest in the room, or when people question your ability to handle a challenge. Don’t let that stop you. Speak up, take initiative, and don’t wait for permission to lead. Also, don’t be afraid to ask for what you deserve - whether it’s a raise, a role, or a seat at the table. Your perspective is valuable, and the tech world needs more women who lead with both strength and empathy.
And finally - find someone who truly believes in you. Someone you can turn to when things get tough, who will tell you the truth, and help you clear your thoughts when you need it most. Having that kind of support can make all the difference.
Meytal’s story shines a light on the experiences many women navigate in the tech industry and more importantly, it shows what’s possible when we lead with courage, clarity, and resilience. Her journey is a powerful addition to our Women in Tech series, reminding us that leadership is about authenticity, advocacy, and creating space for others to rise. We are grateful to Meytal for sharing her journey so openly and for being a changemaker we can all look up to.
✨ We'd love to hear from you. What part of Meytal’s journey resonated with you the most? Drop a comment below and let’s keep the conversation going.
If you know someone whose story would inspire others in our Women in Tech series, please feel free to share their name in the comments. And if you’d like to share your own story, we’d be excited to include it — just reach out to us!
