The impact of data and artificial intelligence (AI) on technology is expanding and deepening rapidly, lending incredible benefits and potential consequences to business. The past year’s AI frenzy had every industry chomping at the bit with the potential of learning language models (LLMs) and natural language processing (NLP) to drive business and customer outcomes faster, more efficiently, and more comprehensively. Let’s face it—AI is now mainstream. In fact, a recent survey showed that nearly two-thirds (64 percent) of business owners believe AI will improve customer relationships and increase productivity. With a majority of large enterprises now investing in and embracing generative AI for uses ranging from customer service to cybersecurity, these capabilities will soon cease to be differentiators but mere table stakes.

So how does business stay ahead of the curve? AI on its own doesn’t deliver value—in fact, it adds complexity and involves substantial risk. Sure, it connects users to data, but only via useful applications supported in secure, cloud-based infrastructure. It’s the strategic use of data afforded by carefully managed AI that leads to innovation—and that’s where the magic happens.

The word innovation itself has become so commonplace that we hardly hear its meaning anymore. Delivering fresh methodologies and ideas to market faster than anyone else is now core to business success—and operationalization is the secret sauce: making innovation easier.

Innovation won’t wait

AI is expanding so rapidly; it feels like when the internet was born. Easier isn’t the only goal. How do you also operationalize innovation fast? By connecting and optimizing all your operations across your landscape to create a seamless path for people, process, and technology to navigate, leading to the next Big Idea. That’s the promise of the Autonomous Digital Enterprise, BMC’s vision for the future of business—agile, resilient, digitally transformed, and ready to continuously innovate and win. And the way we get there is via Connected Digital Ops.

With Connected Digital Ops, you can connect across your entire technology landscape, from on-premises to cloud to edge, to automate and transform your IT infrastructure. You can turn systems of record into systems of action, enabling automated workflows that give you the real-time insights you need to take action. And you can make operations (the Ops) the catalyst for competitive advantage as the innovation differentiator that’s always connected to customer demands and essential to driving business outcomes.

Connected Digital Ops
The power of Connected Digital Ops is in its ability to deliver transformation and growth with the breakthrough capabilities of AI and five distinct Ops.

It’s AIOps, combining data, analytics, and machine learning (ML) to enable enterprise observability, automated issue remediation, and proactive problem-solving.

It’s DataOps, uncovering new opportunities and unlocking greater business value, rapidly, continuously, and at scale.

And ServiceOps, removing the barrier between service (ITSM) and operations (ITOM) to enable collaboration between teams for amazing user experiences.

Along with DevOps, where organizations can develop and deliver in-demand apps continuously and efficiently.

And finally, AutonomousOps, where integrating, automating, and orchestrating complex application and data workflows ensures business outcomes at enterprise speed and scale.

Deliver on the promise of AI with BMC

Today’s IT landscape comprises multiple platforms spanning mainframe, public, private, and hybrid cloud, and on-premises datacenters, all the way to the edge. BMC has nimbly mastered every paradigm shift for more than 40 years, and we are uniquely positioned to help connect your business-critical infrastructure across this vast and complex hybrid IT ecosystem with the power of AI.

Elevate Ops to be the most mission critical part of your business, a foundation for continuous innovation. In the AI-dominated future, business must move faster than humanly possible—and BMC can help you get there.

BMC has decided to stop all business with Russia and Belarus. Our decision to suspend all business and services results directly from the U.S. and European sanctions and mandates on Russia.

Support for Our People in the Region

The well-being of the BMC community is a priority for us. Although we do not have any direct BMC employees in the region, we have been in constant contact with our contracted workforce vendor and BMC community since the rise of the Russia-Ukraine conflict a few weeks ago. BMC has been and remains committed to supporting our contractor workforce.

To date, all BMC contractors have checked in and are safe. We will continue to support efforts in Ukraine to keep our BMC community safe. Our Safety and Security team continues to monitor the situation as it evolves, with the safety of our contractors as well as our business continuity in mind.

BMC Cares Commitment to Do the Right Thing and Prioritize People

The conflict in Ukraine has displaced millions of people and that number continues to rise. BMC employees are supporting our fellow global citizens in alignment with our BMC company values.

Our BMC Cares partner, Tarjimly, is in dire need of translators. Current language needs include Ukrainian, Russian, Belarusian, Bulgarian, Greek, Romanian, and Polish. Anyone can sign up to become a translator and the process only takes about 45 minutes.

There are also organizations on the ground that we can support. They include:

People in the U.S. can send clothes, shoes, and blankets through GiveBackBox.

We will continue to monitor the situation and are committed to providing our employees, customers, partners, and entire BMC community with updates as we navigate forward together.

The coronavirus pandemic continues to create new challenges daily. There is no real playbook for navigating times like these. We are all making adjustments and concessions to ensure that we play our part as global citizens in flattening the curve.

Every day, my gratitude and appreciation for the healthcare workers and researchers on the front lines grow.

Into our third week of remote operations, I continue to be impressed with the entire BMC team that has remained laser focused on our customer and partner success. They are managing a host of new daily life challenges as they ensure that our customers and partners are supported and have the resources to keep their businesses running.

Listening to the ways that we can help prompted us to develop additional resources specific to the challenges our customers are facing in shifting to a remote workforce, managing decentralized IT operations remotely, and meeting changing customer needs.

We have posted new resources to help our customers, partners, and companies looking for answers. There is a new web page that brings together information to help navigate the current situation – keeping cost effectiveness, the employee experience, and the end-customer experience in mind.

We expanded our online learning and training to help organizations around the world continue 24/7, always-on learning:

  • We continue to offer free Explore subscriptions for access to overview courses and other learning materials.
  • We will soon be posting a schedule that offers free, short webinars on the products that enable remote workforces and keep complex IT environments running efficiently.
  • Current BMC Education subscribers and students can attend weekly calls with an instructor for Q&A and technical deep dives (schedule coming soon).

A new BMC Communities space has also been created to address the challenges brought on by the coronavirus pandemic. It brings together very specific technical and educational resources to gain even greater value from existing technology investments, optimize for the present, and be well positioned for the eventual upswing.

We’re very fortunate as an organization that we can use the products and solutions we sell to keep our business running as we reinvent ourselves within this new global landscape. We are honored to partner with over 10,000 customers around the world in their transformational journeys, and we look forward to their ongoing evolution to an Autonomous Digital Enterprise.

Stay healthy, stay well.

“Unprecedented times” doesn’t seem to do justice to the situation and environment we find ourselves today. I want to extend my sympathies to everyone affected by COVID-19 and express gratitude to those who are working every day to control the pandemic.

And as we do our part to abide by guidelines set by health organizations and governments, we’re all adjusting to a new life. Whether you’re in a country that is figuring out how to return to pre-coronavirus days, or learning what it means for your nation, today’s global situation requires adjustments for all. I shared some reassurance to our customers and partners that we are also taking measures to help and support their regular and extraordinary business requirements during this time.

Personally, I find myself in a new setting: I now have three sons at home (all day, every day) who are engaged in online learning, I am adjusting to spending more time on video and collaboration technologies to stay connected with customers and partners, and I am using our internal social networking technologies to stay even more connected with employees. These shifts in family dynamics, customer experience, and employee experience are having a profound and unexpected effect on me.

I find myself energized by our human resilience, determination, and increased collaboration. I can keep up with my kids’ lives better because it’s easier to do it. Working from home and studying from home means that our evenings together are easier to coordinate. I work with the smartest people in the industry to solve the biggest challenges for businesses around the world – we’re coming together with different perspectives, because we can with video calls. And even when distance separates us, with today’s tools and technologies, I’ve never felt more connected to our employees and community. There is more transparency and conversation about how to tackle shared challenges, and there are touching insights of everyone’s human side.

I recognize that this is a very fortunate situation to find myself. My new normal is the direct benefit of several factors: high bandwidth availability where I live (and my ability to procure it for my home), leading an organization that has the technology and expertise to transition smoothly to remote operations, and a highly motivated and supremely intelligent workforce that has adapted to our remote working environment maturely and efficiently.

Focusing on the heart of my new normal highlights the advancements that BMC has made over the years. We use our own products that support the customer and employee experience, IT and applications orchestration and management, and processes that leverage the power of AI and automation. We are on a journey to an Autonomous Digital Enterprise that pays no heed to business barriers and geographical boundaries, that allows people to focus on how we address the challenges that we face as global citizens while our technology investments run the business efficiently with minimal interference or involvement.

We can let situations like the one we find ourselves in today force us to transform and reinvent our IT strategy and company plans. Or we can use it as an opportunity to redefine what the future looks like for the global economy, our own innovation ecosystems, and our people.

The ability to run a global business remotely is not restricted to specific industries or sectors. It’s the right of every organization by using the technology they already have, and the software that runs their business today, with new solutions.

We’ve embraced the opportunity at BMC and we have built in the technology and processes that ensure we can stay agile, focused on our customers, take the right actions at the right time to focus on what we can do during this time to support while we look ahead.

Reach out if we can help you do the same.

Stay healthy, stay well.
