"With TrueSight Pulse, we’re able to monitor our connections to various external services. It’s hard to wait for an external provider to let you know that they’re having problems. Personally, I prefer to know before they do."

Established in 1820, Brewster Academy is an independent, college preparatory school located on 80 acres in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire. The academy provides students with the academic, personal and social skills necessary for success in a university or college, and for life. The school was founded on the principle of moral character development, and strongly adheres to the long-held belief of educating the whole person, both mind and body, and does so through a changing curriculum, rigorous athletic program, and a strong commitment to a community living experience that emphasizes service to self and others. Their curriculum, delivered using the best practice methodologies, aims to maximize retention of skills and content, through a collaborative, student-centered, mastery-learning program.
Brewster Academy is very progressive institution that continually develops new integrations and program initiatives through partnerships with leading research institutions, such as their ‘Emotional Literacy’ program that was developed in conjunction with Yale University. They were also one of the first high schools to develop and implement a 1:1 laptop (1 laptop per student) program. The integration has been in place for 21 years, having fully integrated the program to all students by 1993. The technology to power this integration is ever evolving and growing with the school’s varied educational and personal needs. Keeping all of the provided services up and running is paramount for Brewster. The academy cannot function effectively with the loss of its integrated services, making the need for an effective monitoring solution critical.
At the present, Brewster Academy has both Boundary and Nagios monitoring systems in place. They were drawn to Boundary because of the exceedingly simple setup, and the one-second resolution. Aside from the ease of setup, a major benefit the team at Brewster Academy have found while using Boundary are the service’s supreme notification services. In a matter of minutes, their team is able to add a new service or server monitor with custom reporting and alarm settings. Additionally, the team is able to monitor their connections to various external services that are regularly used.
