Product Change Notification January 2024
Enriching customer satisfaction by providing quality information regarding product renames, replacements, and withdrawals.
PRODUCT RENAME
Complimentary and non-elective retitle of an existing product base, version, and/or marketing schedule that does not alter the feature, functionality, pricing, or existing agreements/entitlements of the product.
PRODUCT AUTO MIGRATION
Complimentary and non-elective product migration that does not result in modifications to the product’s feature and functionality. In instances where minor incremental functionality is provided, such would have otherwise been provided in connection with routine maintenance releases that all subscribers would have been entitled to.
PRODUCT OPTIONAL MIGRATION
SAAS TO SAAS CONVERSION
Paid elective product change that may result in more than minimal changes to the product’s feature, functionality, and/or license list price. In some instances, it may lead to a change in the product code, thus requiring re-installation of the product, but it should not be such that the functionality of the product produces a completely unrelated outcome. The old product rights must be forfeited upon the migration, therefore requiring customer authorization.
PRODUCT UPGRADE
Paid elective product change that consists of moving from one product or solution to another one that contains all the functionality in the original one, plus greater features, and functionality, while remaining within the same product family.
PRODUCT WITHDRAWAL
NO MIGRATION
The End of Life (EOL) of a product, which results in moving it to an Obsolete status once the Projected Obsolete Date (POD) is reached, with no option for customers to migrate it.

1) Can you tell us about your background and how you got started in your career?
I started my career as a technical writer and editor in the oil and gas industry and quickly found my way into web design and development—and to BMC. After working as a full-time information developer at BMC, my husband and I bought a 9-hole golf course, and I "retired" to run the business. I also had my own company, which provided technical documentation and web design, development, content writing, and hosting. My customers included municipalities, small businesses, sports organizations, medical service companies, and oil and gas service providers. Three months after leaving my full-time role at BMC, I accepted a part-time contract editing online help. That contract was the first of many BMC contracts, including the one I’m in now as partner experience and communications manager. I enjoy the diverse nature of my job. It is a unique role that combines aspects of communications, project management, and UX design and development. It is always evolving and allows me to work with many cross-functional teams.
2) How do you approach challenges and stay motivated in your work?
If I start to get overwhelmed—which happens—I take a deep breath, take stock of the situation, and determine where to start first. We may have dozens of projects that all need our attention, but the best work is accomplished by prioritizing and concentrating on one thing at a time.
3) What advice would you give to other women looking to succeed in our industry?
You are unique, and no one else can offer the combination of skills and experience you bring to the table. Trust yourself, be yourself, and everyone will benefit. You are amazing.
As we celebrate Women's Day, let's remember that every day is an opportunity to appreciate and uplift the women around us. Let's continue to recognize their achievements, support their aspirations, and strive for a more inclusive and equal world. Together, we can make a difference.

Community Recognition Trophies
His positive attitude and willingness to help others have not gone unnoticed. Greg's presence in the community has inspired many, creating a ripple effect of kindness and collaboration.
I reached out him to ask what he had to say, and this is what he said about his contribution to the community:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What motivated you to become an active participant in our community?
I am a believer in sharing knowledge, especially when it comes to developing a solution to a problem that is either not commonly known or encountered or does not have any previously shared examples of how something was or could be done. I find that I can provide some of that payback through the BMC Community by interacting with other customers using BMC products that may be dealing with issues or questions that I might either know something about or have previously dealt with. Why reinvent the wheel? If someone has already done it and shared how, use what they learned and shared to your advantage!
Which are the topics or areas of interest that you're particularly passionate about within the community?
Something that I’ve worked through and try to help improve is the lack of visibility to Topics, specifically IDEAs. Since things roll off the activity list quickly when there is a lot of activity happening, it’s often difficult to drive visibility to things like IDEAs which might improve a product. There are some products whose managers are very active in the Community, and there are some that are far less so.
Greg's Favorites :)
Movie: tough choices… Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Spaceballs, Blazing Saddles… the older, not politically correct comedies are probably the most in my wheelhouse.
Food: grilling: steak, take-out: Buffalo Wild Wings or Chinese
Book: I haven’t read an actual book since I was in middle school! LOL The only “ books” read nowadays are technical manuals and user guides.
Role Model/Influencer: I pretty much blaze my own trail. I’ve been influenced by so many individuals over the years that it’s no longer a particular individual or group of people.
Three items would you take with you to a deserted island? If I were to play games in desert magnifying glass, survival knife, large bucket or water bottle
Are there any specific resources or features of the community that you find particularly valuable or helpful?
There are a number of blogs that are regularly updated by several BMC personnel.
Are there any initiatives or projects you'd like to see implemented in the community going forward?
I can honestly say that the email notifications are less than helpful sometimes, as they will just show “Person X updated the details of blog ABC…” without any actual detail.
There was talk a year or two ago about instituting a Community-sourced development program wherein defects, enhancements, and general improvements to products could be “farmed out” to the general community to help improve BMC products that we use.
I would also love to see more development and activity within the TSSA, TSO, and TSNA product Topics. There are a large number of IDEAs, comments, issues, etc. within these product-lines, but because they are some of the least interacted-with products from a user-perspective regarding the Product Managers/Owners and support personnel, they have some of lowest numbers of improvements
