BMC Software Solution Named the Strongest Product in Enterprise Management Associates Workload Automation Radar Report
HOUSTON, January 18, 2010 – BMC Software (NASDAQ: BMC) today announced that Enterprise Management Associates (EMA) awarded the BMC Control-M solution the highest cumulative score in its Radar Report for Workload Automation. The report states that BMC has the strongest product, scoring above average on functionality and higher than any other vendor on architecture and integration. BMC is also one of only a few vendors to seriously leverage CMDB technology for Workload Automation Service Level Management. EMA also praised BMC’s advanced service-oriented problem diagnosis as workload failures are a common source of operational inefficiency and waste.
Playing a key role in BMC’s Business Service Management (BSM) strategy, the BMC Control-M workload automation solution integrates all aspects of job scheduling and batch processing across the enterprise. BMC Control-M proactively determines the impact of workload processes on critical business services and gives IT a higher level of control and flexibility over operations. As batch jobs become more integrated with business services, the ability to avoid problems rather than waiting to resolve them has become increasingly important.
The EMA report further concludes that “BMC is among a handful of leaders in Business Service Management and has applied that leadership to its Workload Automation solution by integrating it into the ITSM framework more completely than anyone else.”
The report also recognized the BMC Control-M solution for its ability to integrate with a complete list of workload automation processes including event management, change management, problem management, configuration management, workload management, virtualization and service level management.
“BMC addresses each of these critical dependencies and does so in a strategically planned fashion,” said Andi Mann, vice president, research for EMA. “The solution’s integration with the CMDB, Remedy, Business Impact Manager and BladeLogic provides a robust IT framework that transforms BMC Control-M into a mature workload automation solution. BMC’s ITSM solution, as currently implemented, surpasses its peers.”
The EMA Radar Report is an objective, graphical evaluation tool that allows IT decision makers to map vendor offerings to their specific needs, accommodating varying user requirements and product strengths. Vendors were evaluated in five key areas: deployment and administration, cost advantage, architecture and integration, functionality and vendor strength.
According to the EMA Radar Report, “BMC has strength in areas where strength really matters.” EMA chose BMC as having the strongest product in the Workload Automation Radar Report because BMC Control-M:
“Vendors were evaluated against complex and strenuous criteria,” said Mann. “Having completed extensive evaluations, we found that BMC’s ITSM integration leads the pack in providing the strongest product overall on the market for workload automation at this time.”
Today, more than 2,500 organizations have installed the BMC Control-M product, the vast majority of which replaced an existing scheduling tool, and are leveraging the solution to meet BSM objectives.
BMC’s newest release of BMC Control-M with Workload Lifecycle Management simplifies enterprise job scheduling and improves service, while reducing costs. The solution helps customers manage numerous workloads across a variety of IT environments. BMC Control-M further sharpens BMC’s edge over competitors and strengthens its leadership in IT Workload Automation and BSM.
“EMA’s recognition lends further credibility to BMC Control-M’s leadership in the market,” said Bill Miller, president, Mainframe Service Management at BMC. “The solution delivers rapid ROI, optimizes IT resources and enables customers to deliver their business services on time and at a reduced cost.”
