BMC PACLOG for DB2 Compress DB2 on z/OS logs for greater availability and cost savings Large DB2 on z/OS archive logs require many tapes, making it difficult to access data for recovery. Mounting multiple tapes during a recovery is time-consuming and costly. Many logs contain records that are not needed for recovery, such as index-related log records and log data for user-specified objects. BMC solution BMC PACLOG for DB2 provides substantial archive log media savings so that more archive log data can be stored on DASD, making the data more accessible for recovery. It eliminates multiple tape mounts, operator interaction and rewinding tape. PACLOG uses a patented filtering process and the Extended Compression Architecture (XCA) technology to achieve up to a 95% reduction in the size of DB2 archive logs. It also offers improved filtering rates to allow index recovery to effectively eliminate archive log records not needed for recovery. Logs processed by PACLOG can reduce network transmission times in support of disaster recovery. Features and benefits
