Business Challenge
Availability is increasingly important for DB2 applications. Unfortunately, outages occur, and when they do, the fastest and most efficient recovery is required. DB2 can produce massive amounts of log data for hundreds of objects, and all must be addressed during application recovery. Time is of the essence, and leveraging scarce personnel and resources is the key to success.
Business Need
- Reduce elapsed and CPU time
- Select specific copies and logs for the recovery process
- Test forward recovery processes while table spaces are online
- Improve and streamline the recovery process
- Increase data availability
Our Solution
RECOVER PLUS for DB2 saves you time and money by streamlining the DB2 recovery process. When combined with the R+/CHANGE ACCUM product, this product provides better response at recovery time and more options to accommodate your particular recovery strategy than the DB2 RECOVER utility. With faster and easier recoveries, you can maximize the availability of business-critical data. RECOVER PLUS for DB2 executes outside of the DB2 subsystem, which reduces interference with DB2 applications and decreases contention for DB2 resources.
Key Features & Benefits
- Allows point-in-time recovery through the exclusive BACKOUT recovery feature, without first restoring image copies
- Uses image copies and logs to recover indexes
- Allows concurrent recovery of index space and tablespace partitions
- Allows selection of local versus remote copies and primary versus backup copies for recovery use
- Detects and allocates change accumulation files created by R+/CHANGE ACCUM and allows accumulations and recoveries in the same batch stream
- Detects and accommodates stacked tapes and optimizes processing for tape- mount reduction
- Falls back to prior copy if current copy is bad
