IBM's® Extended Terminal Option (ETO) allows terminals, printers and LTERMS to be created dynamically. However, ETO's default dynamic terminals and other elements require additional configuration before they meet most customers' requirements. In configuring these terminals and other devices, support personnel must undertake the time-consuming process of creating or modifying descriptors and writing user exits in assembler language. The additional risk of human error can cause problems in implementing the exits.
