Business Challenge
As workloads vary across LPARs, customers need to manually move cartridge or tape drives around LPARs to meet these workload peaks.
Business Need
- Customers need to fill requests for tape or cartridge drives in a timely manner across LPARs
- Customers need an automatic means to move tape or cartridge drives across LPARs as workloads shift
- Customers need a cost effective way of sharing tape or cartridge drives across LPARs
Our Solution
MAINVIEW AutoOPERATOR TapeSHARE enables customers in maximizing the utilization of their tape and cartridge drives by automatically moving them to where they are needed. MAINVIEW AutoOPERATOR TapeSHARE automatically detects when there is an unfulfilled need for a cartridge or tape drive. TapeSHARE will move an idle cartridge drive from another OS/390 LPAR to this one without intervention by the operator.
Key Features & Benefits
- A friendly Operator Control Display shows the status of all cartridge and tape drives on all LPARs
- Quick out of the box functionality with minimal customization
- Manual operations can be easily performed against drives on TapeSHARE controlled LPARs from the OCD
