Business Challenge
When a crucial application fails, business slows or halts until that application is recovered. Recovery speed is one of the most important criteria for a recovery plan, and serious data integrity problems occur when required objects are omitted from a recovery. An action plan for recovery shortens the recovery time, but a recovery plan that provides physical recovery without application integrity is insufficient. Organizations need to be prepared with a proven application recovery plan to respond to unexpected failures.
Business Need
- Increase data integrity
- Ensure system availability and faster recoveries
- Reduce system down time
- Automate recovery procedures
Our Solution
RECOVERY MANAGER for DB2 automates the entire recovery process and generates optimized job streams to quickly restore DB2. This product gives you the ability to act quickly, regardless of the size of table spaces, the complexity of the structures or the frequency of backups. It also allows you to define which groups of objects to recover. You can use RECOVERY MANAGER for DB2 to automate recovery on an entire DB2 subsystem. Large applications, such as SAP R/3, often require that the entire subsystem be included in the backup and recovery process.
Key Features & Benefits
- Automates the recovery process and eliminates time-consuming, manual, error-prone steps
- Provides disaster recovery support
- Allows multitasking of group recovery based on workload analysis (several recovery jobs may be submitted for one group)
- Reduces the elapsed time of many processes such as group revalidation and JCL generation with the INDEX ALL feature
- Assists in recovery planning
- Coordinates between multiple DB2 subsystems, or between DB2 and IMS and/or VSAM applications
- Recovers all DB2 objects, including the catalog and directory
