Business Challenge
Enterprises are introducing new and more complex applications, which increase data volumes. The demand for data creates a need for 24x7 availability. IT is challenged to improve online application performance, increase data availability, reduce processing time and store large volumes of data while minimizing CPU and storage costs. DASD unit costs are declining, but new applications such as data warehousing, add data at an even faster rate. Users now spend more for data storage than ever before.
Business Need
- Minimize storage costs
- Maintain high data availability (approaching a 24x7 environment) for batch and online applications
- Store increasingly large volumes of data
- Increase ROI and reduce costs
Our Solution
BMC DATA ACCELERATOR Compression provides advanced techniques to reduce the physical storage requirements of VSAM, non-VSAM and SMS data sets while ensuring data integrity. Physical data storage requirements are reduced by up to 50 to 90 percent, based on the algorithm selected and the type of data being compressed. Extended Compression Architecture (XCA)
Key Features & Benefits
- Reduces physical data storage requirements by up to 50 to 90 percent
- Provides transparent compression for applications in VSAM and non-VSAM environments
- Increases buffering dynamically through new AOB(ABC buffering option)
- Works with SMS and non-SMS data
