BMC Software and IDS Scheer Integrate Solutions to Deliver Automated Business Process Discovery for Business Service Management (BSM) Partnership Enables Customers to Automatically Integrate Business Process with IT Services; Integrated Solution will be presented at SAPPHIRE May 16-18 in Orlando Orlando, FL (May 15, 2006) - BMC Software and IDS Scheer today announced the integration of ARIS Business Architect from IDS Scheer with the BMC Atrium CMDB from BMC Software. The combined solution enables customers to understand how IT supports and impacts their business processes and accelerates their implementation of business service management (BSM). The joint solution will be demonstrated at SAPPHIRE May 16-18 in Orlando. “We are very excited about the integration of ARIS from IDS Scheer with the BMC Atrium CMDB,” said Dr. Mathias Kirchmer, CEO of IDS Scheer in the Americas. “This partnership will allow our joint customers to have unprecedented visibility into the relationships between business processes and IT infrastructure so they can make better decisions in support of business performance requirements.” Understanding and maintaining business processes is one of the highest priorities for today’s organizations; however, providing consistent and prioritized IT support can be challenging if critical business processes are not mapped to the physical IT Infrastructure. BMC Discovery for ARIS, developed by BMC in partnership with IDS Scheer, enables IT departments to automatically discover business process models from ARIS Business Architect and map them with information on IT services and infrastructure stored in the BMC Atrium CMDB. By automating business process discovery into the Configuration Management Database (CMDB), the IT department can determine which business process is affected when IT events occur and then prioritize events according to their impact on the business. “As a partner of both BMC and IDS Scheer, we are excited that the two companies have invested in bringing this integration to market,” said Thorsten Pelka from EDS Business Solutions. “Working with customers who seek to use IT for competitive advantage, we have found a common language between business and IT to be a major stumbling block to success. By bringing business process models into the CMDB and connecting them to IT services and IT infrastructure will break down communication barriers and drive greater business performance through improved IT and business alignment.” Jim Grant, vice president and general manager, enterprise service management, BMC Software, added: “As a leader in the business process modelling and analysis market, IDS Scheer is an ideal partner for BMC by bringing business-process know-how into the CMDB. The combined offering from our two companies will accelerate the ability of our customers to manage IT from the perspective of the business.” Understanding how business processes, organizational structures, applications, data interfaces and technologies interrelate is a major challenge for any IT department seeking to deliver greater value to the business. The ARIS Enterprise Architecture Solution from IDS Scheer enables companies to build, maintain and optimize organizational architectures with multiple levels of views of the business. The integration of ARIS with the BMC Atrium CMDB enables customers to define relationships between the technology infrastructure, applications, and IT services that support specific business processes. “IT exists to support and drive the business,” said Dr. Torsten Greiner, Chief Architect, norisbank AG. “The performance of IT is critical to the success of our online loan business. The ability to import Business Process information from ARIS into the BMC Atrium CMDB will allow us to speak the same language as the business and dramatically improve how IT events and changes are managed.” About BMC Software About IDS Scheer in the Americas
