BMC Software Delivers New Mainframe Storage Management Solutions MAINVIEW® SRM Solutions Further Integrate Storage into the Overall Information Technology Infrastructure BMC Software today announced:
HOUSTON - (September 22, 2003) - BMC Software, Inc. [NYSE: BMC], a leader in enterprise management, today reinforced its commitment to provide customers with industry-leading mainframe storage management solutions by announcing three new MAINVIEW® Storage Resource Manager (SRM) solutions. These solutions help customers ease the management challenges presented by today's complex storage environments.
To help customers streamline their MAINVIEW SRM purchases, several MAINVIEW SRM technologies have been enhanced and are now offered as three integrated solutions. BMC Software is now shipping MAINVIEW SRM Allocation, MAINVIEW SRM Reporting, and MAINVIEW SRM Automation. These products help customers effectively and efficiently manage their mainframe storage environment by reducing storage costs and space shortages, providing powerful automation capabilities that maximize staff and CPU time, and minimize wasted space and schedule interruptions. With these new products, BMC Software has automated allocation features to reduce the incidence of space-related processing problems, and automated actions for the prevention and recovery from abends (failures), ensuring higher levels of availability. Among the users gaining benefits from this new technology is Fiserv Credit Processing Services, a national leader in providing outsourced credit receivables management services and a unit of Fiserv, Inc. Fiserv Credit Processing Services provides clients with technology that enhances their ability to manage credit decisions, account acquisition, account processing, fulfillment, and risk management. "The applications most critical to running our business need to be available whenever our customers need them. These applications rely on having a healthy storage environment," said Victor Toro, Systems Programming Manager, Fiserv Credit Processing Services. "BMC Software understands this requirement, and their expertise in mainframe storage management allows us to achieve our business service levels and keep our customers satisfied." BMC Software understands the important role mainframe storage can play in ensuring mission-critical business operations are functioning optimally. The new MAINVIEW SRM products support BMC Software's Business Service Management (BSM) initiative to help companies move beyond traditional IT management and manage their business critical services from both an IT and business perspective. One of the key components of BSM is to enable customers to link their IT resources tightly to business objectives and manage these resources based on business priorities by providing a "whole view" of their business and IT operations. MAINVIEW SRM enables this activity by integrating with customers' overall technology infrastructure management consoles and service management solutions, allowing customers to define and meet critical business service levels. New MAINVIEW SRM Products Reduce Storage Costs
"Enterprise customers continue to see their storage environments grow at alarming rates and the business services that storage supports demand more stringent availability and reliability," said Calvin Guidry, vice president and general manager, Enterprise Systems Management, BMC Software. "Through our new MAINVIEW SRM solutions, customers can harness the management tasks associated with this growth while achieving a greater return on their storage investment."
