HOUSTON - (August 28, 2003) - BMC Software. Inc. (NYSE: BMC), a leader in enterprise management, today announced that John Cox, Chief Financial Officer, is scheduled to be a presenter at the upcoming Smith Barney Citigroup and Credit Suisse First Boston Conferences.

Mr. Cox is scheduled to present at the Smith Barney Citigroup Technology Conference in New York City on Wednesday, September 3^rd at approximately 10:15 a.m. EDT.

Mr. Cox is also scheduled to present at the Credit Suisse First Boston Global Software Conference in New York City on Thursday, September 4^th at approximately 11:45 a.m. EDT.
