This document summarizes BMC position regarding support for its products when running in virtual environments.
With regard to VMware platform:
- All BMC products are fully supported when running under the VMware platform, subject to the notes below.
- BMC will attempt to address issues reported in this environment without requiring the customer to first recreate it on a non virtual environment. However, BMC reserves the right to request customer assistance in problem determination, including recreating the problem on non-virtual environment, if other diagnostic steps prove unsuccessful.
General Notes:
- In general, BMC welcomes the running of its products in the leading virtual environments.
- All support is subject to BMC service agreements and to specific constraints and exceptions described in products' documentation (including, among others, release notes and knowledge base articles). When there is a conflict between this general document and product-specific documentation, the product documentation prevails.
- Support for any virtual environment is conditioned on support to the guest operating system under which the BMC product is running in the virtual machine.
- In case a reported problem is most likely caused by the virtualization software, BMC may require customers to install available patches or a new release of the virtualization software.
- Problems reported for virtual environments not listed above or in product documentation, will be handled on a case-by-case basis.
- To inquire about support of any virtualization platform, customers should check product documentation, or contact a BMC representative.
