CUSTOMER WIN: American Kennel Club Keeps IT Costs on Tight Leash with BMC SoftwareNew SaaS-based BMC ITSM Remedy OnDemand cuts the cost of on-premise solutions in half
HOUSTON, July 20, 2010 – When the American Kennel Club needed to upgrade its IT service management solution, the organization turned to BMC Software’s (NASDAQ: BMC) new Remedy OnDemand software-as-a-service solution.
With growing demand and IT needs, AKC needed a top-quality product, but the group also wanted to limit its costs. After examining several options, AKC chose Remedy OnDemand because it was the only solution that offered robust reporting, comprehensive functionality, ITIL compatibility and extensive integration – all with SaaS delivery.
“Not having to maintain hardware and software in-house and knowing that we would always be on the latest release were big draws with BMC Remedy OnDemand,” said William Adams, AKC director of computer and network operations. “The financial impact was significant. By going with the SaaS model, we’re saving about 50 percent over the cost of our on-premise solution.”
With specialized registry and event management applications delivering core services to its constituency, the AKC has developed a sophisticated IT infrastructure. IT supports the datacenter, network, telephony systems, desktops and the AKC website, which drives revenue-generating services such as dog registration and provides information on AKC events.
The BMC Remedy OnDemand solution plays critical roles in keeping the infrastructure operating smoothly. The service desk is the initial stage for incidents and supporting user needs. New service desk processes will streamline the tracking and resolution of incidents and software enhancements and provide greater visibility into performance. By integrating with in-house monitoring, Remedy OnDemand will enable automatic generation of incident tickets and shorten outage times.
