CUSTOMER SUCCESS: BMC Software Enables U.S. Forces Japan To Achieve ‘Outstanding’ Grade on Command Cyber Readiness InspectionBMC BladeLogic automation helps ensure SIPRNET & NIPRNET are secureHOUSTON, July 8, 2010 – The U.S. Forces Japan (USFJ) has completed its successful implementation of BMC Software’s (NASDAQ: BMC) BladeLogic Server Automation solution, resulting in a grade of “Outstanding” on its Command Cyber Readiness Inspection (CCRI), the Defense Information Systems Agency’s newest process to ensure connections to the Global Information Grid (GIG) are secure. During CCRI inspection preparation, USFJ realized that utilizing the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA)-provided Gold Disk did not effectively remediate all findings. To compensate for this and to help better manage the Security Technical Information Guide (STIG) process on an ongoing basis, USFJ selected BMC BladeLogic Server Automation, a STIG-aware solution for deployment, auditing, remediation and rollback capabilities for servers.
Two weeks after configuring and deploying the BladeLogic solution across the infrastructure, USFJ was able to audit and remediate the environment in approximately a day and half, a considerable savings in man hours compared to its previous process.
The initial “procurement through production” implementation of BMC BladeLogic took only 2 months, enabling USFJ to receive significant time to value while preparing for the CCRI.
“The increasing importance of and focus on continuous IT compliance within the U.S. Department of Defense is driven by the need to ensure the security, availability and integrity of mission-critical IT information systems,” said Ken Mellett, BMC public sector vice president. “As a result of partnering with BMC Software, USFJ will be able to automate the process to audit and remediate the state of compliance of its highly sophisticated and unique networks in its continuous support of the Warfighter. BMC is proud to be working with USFJ in this combined effort.”
