BMC Software Chairman and CEO Speaks on Public Sector IT: “Expectations Have Never Been Higher”

HOUSTON, February 8, 2010 – Speaking to more than 600 public sector IT leaders late last week, BMC Software (NASDAQ: BMC) chairman and chief executive officer Bob Beauchamp championed the critical role that IT plays in key government initiatives.

“Clearly, the White House announcement that federal IT spending would remain flat through 2011 has renewed government agency interest in cloud computing, datacenter automation and consolidation,” said Beauchamp. “The success of the government’s priorities – ranging from health care reform to homeland security to infrastructure renewal – is highly dependent on a new vision of IT and how it can better serve the people, be they constituents, citizens or customers. Rather than back off, now is the time to make deep investments in IT strategy and infrastructure that will enable the United States to thrive when economic conditions improve.”

Among BMC’s many public sector customers who are implementing consolidation or automation IT initiatives are the New York Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications, the Federal Aviation Administration and the Defense Information Systems Agency.

Beauchamp delivered the keynote address at BMC Software Public Sector Forum 2010 in Washington, D.C.
