BMC Software Provides Cloud Cover for Growing, Dynamic Client Base

  • BMC closes over 30 new cloud deals
  • Adobe, CSC Australia, Swisscom IT Services, an agency within the US Intelligence Community and Harris Corp. among new customers

HOUSTON, November 16, 2010 BMC Software (NASDAQ: BMC) today announced the continued momentum in the adoption of its cloud offerings with the addition of several notable customers to its ever growing client base including Adobe, CSC Australia, Swisscom IT Services, an agency within the US Intelligence Community and Harris Corp.

Over the past quarter, BMC has secured over 30 new engagements both for customers employing BMC’s cloud lifecycle management solutions as well as those accessing BMC’s market-leading service desk solutions via the cloud through its SaaS offerings.

“BMC is delivering on its dynamic Business Service Management vision with strong offerings available today that enable customers to build and manage hybrid clouds,” noted Kia Behnia, BMC’s chief technology officer. “As enterprise-class IT organizations begin the journey into cloud computing, BMC is a partner that can address any level of challenge with market proven security, scalability and support for multiple operating systems, hypervisors and hardware platforms.”

According to an independent research report entitled, “You’re Not Ready For Internal Cloud” which was published by Forrester Research, Inc., July 26, 2010:
“The economics of cloud computing are too compelling for you to sit on the sidelines waiting for the hype to die down. You need to start investing in IaaS now to understand how best to leverage it. You also need to embrace the fact that your developers and line-of-business leads aren’t waiting for you to figure this out. Comparing the results from Forrester surveys of application development managers and IT ops professionals on similar questions about cloud usage suggests that developers are bypassing IT and putting applications onto public clouds at a rate five times greater than IT thinks.”

CSC Australia, an arm of the global business solutions and technology services leader, is at the forefront of this trend.

“CSC recognizes the modern large enterprise will gradually consume IT services through multiple cloud deployment models - private, public and hybrid, using many cloud service providers, and taking advantage of various cloud service types - SaaS, PaaS and IaaS,” said Bob Hayward, CSC Australia’s chief technology and innovation officer. “Even within IaaS, there will be multiple technology platforms deployed.”

“There also will continue to be legacy and non-cloud environments,” Hayward said. “All of these will need to be managed in a consistent, policy-based and highly-automated way through ITIL®-based processes. CSC in Australia is partnering with BMC to realize this goal for the benefit of our customers.”

BMC’s commitment to cloud is evidenced in both its solutions that are engineered to manage the cloud as well as the ability to use the cloud as a delivery mechanism for many of BMC’s industry-standard IT solutions. These offerings have attracted an impressive customer list including Behringer Harvard, California ISO, Arthur J. Gallagher & Co., National Multiple Sclerosis Society, and Wood Group Information Solutions.
