BMC Software Cycling Grand Prix
Since its inception in 1999, the BMC Software Cycling Grand Prix continues to be a highlight throughout the year for not only its employees, but for cycling fans and enthusiasts around the country. The BMC Cycling Grand Prix is a series of four races within the Saturn USPRO Cycling Tour, a 17-event cycling tour, linking professional cycling races with a definitive professional points series. At stake in the BMC Cycling Grand Prix, in addition to Saturn USPRO points, is a purse of $250,000 to the cyclist who wins all four BMC Grand Prix events. The 2001 BMC Software Grand Prix marks the third year in a five-year commitment to bring professional cycling to BMC’s four largest employment bases in the U.S.
Winning
in the world of professional cycling means you have to compete in
numerous races, under all kinds of conditions and in all parts of
the world. Championship riders have to possess tremendous physical
skills and endurance as well as the mental presence and race savvy
to pace themselves through a lengthy race or series of races so
that they'll have the reserves necessary to cross the finish line
in front.
