BMC Software Expands Senior Management Team, Appoints Cosmo Santullo as SVP of Worldwide Sales and Services

Senior Vice President, Darroll Buytenhuys to Lead New Worldwide Marketing and Corporate Strategy Organization

HOUSTON - (Nov. 2, 2004) - BMC Software, Inc. [NYSE: BMC], a leading provider of enterprise management solutions today announced the appointment of Cosmo (Cos) Santullo as senior vice president of worldwide sales and services reporting to president and CEO, Bob Beauchamp. The company also announced that senior vice president, Darroll Buytenhuys will lead the newly formed worldwide marketing and corporate strategy organization.

In his role, Mr. Santullo will oversee a global sales and services organization of approximately 2,000 employees with a global presence in over 50 countries. Santullo began his career at IBM, where for 20 years he progressed through successive global sales and marketing positions culminating as general manager of North American personal systems division, with a revenue objective of over $8 billion.

From IBM, Santullo joined EMC, where he served as senior vice president of global marketing and president of EMC e-Business Solutions. After leaving EMC, Santullo served as CEO and board member of several small technology companies.

Darroll Buytenhuys will now oversee a newly constituted worldwide marketing and corporate strategy organization chartered with expanding the company's Business Service Management initiatives and alliances. Combining existing marketing and strategy elements across BMC into this new organization, Buytenhuys will provide focused, senior leadership as the company broadens its marketing efforts and alliances to better capitalize on emerging markets.

Previously, Buytenhuys served as senior vice president of worldwide sales, services and marketing where he transformed global sales from point product to solution selling based on Business Service Management. Buytenhuys also guided the company's various marketing efforts, moved the field organization to a more partner-focused model, established the BMC Software business school, transitioned customer support to a more efficient global model, and introduced numerous highly successful field programs.
