Top 6 DevOps Conferences to Attend in 2016

Looking to delve a bit deeper into DevOps this year? If so, then conferences are the ideal way to stay on top of the trends, industry movers and shakers, and products to support your goals. Some of these industry events are surprisingly affordable, and all have something unique and interesting to add to your knowledge and skills repertoire.

1) BMC Engage – September 6-9

BMC customers, prospective customers, partners, industry influencers and employees from around the world gather together for a four-day IT Management Conference including sessions on DevOps.

This past year, BMC Engage 2015 was packed full of exciting demos, executive prese

2) OSCON — May 16-20

From Texas to London, Kiev to San Francisco, here are your best DevOps conferences to keep you up to date on everything this coming year.

An acronym for O’Reilly’s Open Source Convention, this show covers everything open source. Unlike many similar conventions, it does not revolve specifically around a single language. This conference is about how all of the different players and pieces work together to mold and shape the world of open source. It is attended by developers, innovators, business delegates, and investors, and will beheld in Austin, Texasfor 2016.


3) SCALE 14x — January 21-24

Scheduled to be held in Pasadena, California, SCALE 14x 2016 is the fourteenth annual Southern California Linux Expo. As open source and Linux command a larger and larger market share, this expo will serve as a showcase of all the exciting things to come. Eighty-one speakers are scheduled to offer information and insight for four days, in addition to all of the supplemental sessions, such as ‘Service Discovery in the Cloud’. This year’s theme is ‘Surprise!’, and organizers are still accepting registrations for both attendants and speakers


4) DevOpsDays — Various Dates and Venues

If you’re looking for a worldwide conference that offers a convention near you, DevOpsDays is a forward-thinking show to consider that lines up some impressive speakers at conventions both within the U.S. and abroad. Expect lots of hands-on advice and insight from the people actually using DevOps in the real world each day. If you or your business needs to attend a conference on the cheap for budgetary reasons, this one is a steal of a deal at just $150, just a fraction of what most other conferences cost.

5) Developer Week Conference + Festival — February 6-12

Located in San Francisco in the heart of Silicon Valley, the Developer Week Conference and Festival is one of the most anticipated and celebrated DevOps conferences out there. It is the single largest full-stack developer conference, featuring over 200 speakers. You can also catch updates on the 50 most exciting new dev technologies. More than 1,000 hackers will be in attendance, alongside 4,000 other attendees. Costs vary from a full PRO Pass for $550 to a single-day or single-event pass, averaging about $25.


6) Monitorama — June 27-29

engage-3Conferences held in the heart of Portland, Austin, and San Francisco are located near the cultural centers of the cities, meaning you can enjoy the local cuisine, shopping, and other activities while brushing up on your DevOps and open source skills.

Monitorama 2016 PDX is likely the most fun of all the DevOps conferences. Scheduled in Portland, Oregon, this conference is organized and held by developers, for developers. It is an excellent way to learn about the open source community, tools, techniques and more. Numerous industry leaders will participate, and there will be tons of extracurricular activity outside the conference to enjoy, as well, including the vibrant coffee and foodie culture that Portland is known for.
