Rocket Ship to the Cloud: BMC Tops 900+ SaaS Customers

One of the many interesting aspects of “going private” is that it frees BMC to pursue a mix of short-term, mid-term and long-term business strategies.  It can also make life difficult for industry influencers who need to track our marketplace progress. Media and analysts and bloggers love a “horse race,” and quarterly earnings data offers valuable insights into market demand, industry trends and competitive dynamics in the hottest technology segments.

 

The “new BMC” is now more than a full month into its first fiscal year as a private company, and we’re building momentum with exciting new products (MyIT 2.0, AppZone 2.0, Remedyforce Winter 14 and Control-M Workload Change Manager), new executive leaders (including Paul Appleby, Robin Purohit and Bill Berutti) and new partnerships (Microsoft, NEC and Hortonworks among others). Our new leaders and I are committed to open and transparent communication, and we will use this blog and other BMC channels to share more frequent progress reports.

 

BMCRocketsSaaS.jpgAs a starting point, I’m very excited to share that BMC has now exceeded 900+ companies using our software-as-a-service products, led by our Remedyforce cloud-based ITSM system (550+ customers) and Remedy On Demand (275+ customers). What’s amazing is that we only introduced Remedy On Demand four years ago and Remedyforce just over three years ago. That’s fantastic growth for new enterprise software products, and it makes Remedyforce one of the industry’s fastest-growing cloud products. Not bad for a “legacy vendor” that has “no products” in this space, as one of our more vocal competitors likes to claim.

 

Partnerships are clearly a key driver of our cloud success, and I’ll share more about our partner momentum in future posts. For now, I’d like to offer special thanks to our partners at Salesforce.com, who helped us accelerate ITSM cloud delivery and adoption thanks to the Salesforce1 platform. By combining the world’s most popular enterprise cloud platform with BMC’s 30+ years of IT management experience, we can offer BMC and Salesforce customers an unbeatable combination.

 

What’s equally exciting is that we’re pushing the envelope with new mobile, social and cloud innovations that transform the IT experience. Remedyforce is now fully integrated with MyIT 2.0 and AppZone 2.0 — new BMC products that modernize the IT experience via an elegant mobile interface and natural workflow, plus social collaboration, gamification and crowdsourcing features that reduce IT friction. It’s all part of our “New IT” vision and technology investments that will enable digital services delivery and drive enterprise productivity.
