Mainframe Innovation on Display at BMC Engage

IT Data Analytics

At the BMC user conference, Engage, in Orlando, BMC unveiled to customers a unique ability to Bring IT to Life. By delivering on six digital business imperatives, IT services will directly impact the lives of their customers and employees. A core requirement for meeting the digital business imperatives is innovation, and BMC innovation for mainframe management was on display as the new BMC Subsystem Optimizer for zEnterprise® , or Subzero, was discussed with customers at the Engage conference.

Participating in the MLC Cost Reduction Workshop at Engage, mainframe customers learned of a new way to reduce MLC costs by optimizing the number of subsystem licenses they pay for. Using Subzero, mainframe IT can reduce the number of CICS, DB2 and IMS subsystems they run on their systems, without changing any application code. The result is a reduced number of product licenses, which can lower MLC monthly costs by 5% to 10% or more depending upon the customer’s configuration.
