HOUSTON - (Aug. 31, 2005) - BMC Software, Inc., [NYSE: BMC], a leading provider of enterprise management solutions, today announced Care New England's selection of BMC for their identity service needs. Care New England will deploy BMC® Identity Manager for .NET solutions and v-GO SSPR for BMC CONTROL-SA by Passlogix, across five leading healthcare providers in the northeastern United States, encompassing more than 6,000 internal and external users. The solutions will automate provisioning and de-provisioning processes and empower medical and administrative personnel with self-service password reset capabilities to help decrease patient wait times and improve the patient experience at Care New England facilities. The ability to align business services with identity needs, a cornerstone of Business Service Management (BSM), eliminates wasted time and costs accessing patient and care data, while automating processes for enhanced information security and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) compliance.
Automating provisioning processes with BMC Identity Manager for .NET, Care New England will decrease the time it takes to administer and revoke user access from nearly two weeks to less than two hours. Self Service/Password reset functionality will also significantly reduce the current and future load on the help desk, while meeting user and security concerns. Most importantly, the new identity management tools will allow doctors to access patient information quicker and new doctors to be provisioned faster, and as a result, patients will see a decrease in time spent waiting for care at each facility.
BMC Identity Manager for .NET will interoperate with Care New England's existing support solution, the BMC Magic Service Desk Suite. This will enable the company to establish uniform role and rule-based policies for provisioning access using BMC Identity Manager for .NET, as well as document exceptions to the established policies via the BMC Magic Service Desk Suite. BMC Identity Manager for .NET will also enable the company to utilize information already stored in the Microsoft Active Directory, and use the existing staff knowledge and experience in Microsoft technologies.
Care New England recognized BMC as a technology vendor offering superior expertise, easy integration with existing systems and a strong understanding of ITIL processes and standards. "BMC offered more experience and depth of knowledge than the other identity management vendors we evaluated," said Howard Rubin, Director, IS Technical Services, Care New England. "As a healthcare provider, an identity management solution affects everyone in our organization, including patients. The solution not only had to fit with our organization technologically, we also needed to know that the company behind the solution was highly experienced and poised to address our unique business needs."
