ITIL and BMC Capacity Management The BMC Capacity Management Route to Value provides functionality that supports the iterative activities in capacity management as defined by ITIL, including: Monitoring the performance and throughput of IT services and the supporting infrastructure components Analyzing current trends and demand for IT resources, as well as predicting future resource usage and capacity requirements Undertaking tuning (i.e., modeling) activities to make the most efficient use of IT resources and improve business service performance Enabling capacity exceptions/events and reports that identify performance issues in advance of service impact Providing a capacity database (CDB) for storing the different types of data used by all of the sub-processes of capacity management
